This will be my last post (on this blog) while in Brighton.
I leave tomorrow to go back to the states.
I’ve felt that I’ve grown as a person and learned more about myself, my process, and focus on what I really want to do.
It feels like a dream, my time here. It feels kind of unreal, like, “this really happened?”
I’m sure after I leave, that, in time, I’ll be able to sort it all out and realize that, yes, this all did really happen. You really were in England for six months.
I’ve met some great people here and I hope to someday visit again.
I wouldn’t want to not visit again. It’d feel weird to just never come back to somewhere you spent half a year of your life at and it being a place that kind of marked a pivotal change within yourself.
But for now, this chapter is closing.
It’s been a good experience. And I will never forget it.
I have been busy working on my personal voice project, which is the comic book I’ve entitled “Lil’ Pricks” (previously called “Rude Boiz” as a working title) which you can check the progress and planning of here!
I’m looking forward to wrapping it up, I just have plenty of inking left ahead of me before scanning and putting it all together.
Also, I have been helping Tom Duxbury with hanging and preparing his space for the Brighton exhibition space for this year’s Brighton Graphic Design & Illustration Graduate Show! It’s been exciting and exhilirating, it’s making me look forward to, think about, and slightly pre-stress about my own graduate show back at MCAD next year. It’s crazy!
I’ll be graduating from MCAD next year!!!! TIME IS MOVING TOO FAST!
But yes, anyways, everyone’s work is looking amazing and I can’t wait to see it all when it’s finished. Come to the Brighton show if you can, and if not, check it out when it hits London at the Rochelle School from July 8th-12th! You won’t be disappointed.
make gifs of some of my original characters (to continue with animating, but making short ones, a.k.a. animated gifs)
make a paper mask (because I feel like it)
redesign some album covers and/or gig posters (because I feel like it)
OH! And if I find the time I might also knock out some more letters for the alphabet zines.
In other words, this is some Mega-Me time and I plan to take advantage of it.
Also, I might be submitting a contribution to whatever this newspaper thing I’ve heard bits and pieces about going on back at MCAD. Once Peter gets to me about info on it, I will be able to know what I can actually do for it.
I’m excited and I want to keep a good pace and be super productive. I may not be going anywhere on a trip, but hey, I’m not letting that get me down.
I also plan to spend time outside on nice, not super windy days to do work because, why would I not?
